As I’m getting back into the wedding business I have been thinking of all the ways to help make the big day easier for my couples.

My number 1 goal that day is for you to be relaxed and soak in every moment as present as you can be. Avoiding all the worries of when everything should happen and leave that to your team.

So today I’m going to share my top 5 tips to help us as photographers as well as any of your other vendors on your wedding day. This helps us but also helps YOU and that’s what we’re here for!

1. COMMUNICATION

To all my brides. NEVER hesitate to contact me. If it’s 5 emails in 1 day go for it. I want to know what you are hoping for and I don’t want you to hold anything back that would bring any stress to you. Even if you feel like it’s silly, share it. It’s important to you and that means it is important to me.

2. TIMELINE

I love going over a timeline with my brides before the big day!

I’ve worked many crazy days, days with a ton of extra time and days things were missed due to lack of time. I highly encourage that before you set the timeline in stone to go over it with vendors that have time involved.

I want you to be able to get every image you desire without running around, rushing or pushing things back to squeeze it in.

Factors like doing a first look, lighting, bridal party size and photo priorities all play in to what time is needed and when it all needs to go down!

3. AVOID PINTEREST & SPECIFIC LISTS

Let me start this with the fact that I always ask my brides for a top 5 photos on their “ DO NOT MISS” list. I want to know the top 5 photos that you can’t get out of your head like walking down the isle, his reaction, your Dad’s face during the first dance or unique things that aren’t traditional in most weddings.

What I’m saying with this is I’ve received multiple page lists of photos and had brides 100% expect me to not miss a single image (it was VERY specific list) and sometimes that is literally impossible. Since that has happened I just reassure my brides that I have been doing this for 10 years now. I capture everything possible. All the very special moments and I want you to know you can trust me to capture your day to the best of my ability.

Any photographer you have booked, you booked because you love their work and way they capture those moments. If you are still looking, focus on that. Loving their style, the way they capture the day and how they communicate with you.

4. HAVE AN ASSISTANT

Having someone who you can count on to keep the day going as you have dreamed of without you having to worry about a thing.

This job is perfect for someone you are close with that isn’t in the wedding party. I had my cousin do this for me and it was so fun. She hung out with me, grabbed my stuff, answered my phone and let me know if anyone had a question for me if I was busy getting ready.

They will know your timeline for the day and though this can be your wedding planner I highly recommend it be someone to help your wedding planner out since the wedding planner is in charge of the entire day and your assistant would be there solely to keep you as relaxed as possible.

5. TRUST

Last but definitely not least is TRUST!

I have mentioned it a few times through this post that you want to book someone you can trust. Someone you know is always looking for the next best image to capture. Being present with you and ready for the next event to happen.

For my brides, I want you to know I’m going to give my best on your big day to make sure everything is captured. Things you don’t know are even happening. I want you to always be able to look back and go through your images with a smile on your face knowing you booked someone you could trust.
